ASSIX Complete Kroto Lab Project for The University of Sheffield
ASSIX are delighted to have successfully completed our latest project with the University of Sheffield at their Kroto Research Facility in the centre of Sheffield.
The primary aim of the project was to undertake alterations to part of the existing second-floor area which was previously used a clean rooms/lab space. Minor layout alterations were made so as to remodel the area into a laboratory for a 3D printer along with associated work areas. The alterations involved minor repairs to finishes, fit-out of the space and associated mechanical and electrical works.
The key work items were:
- Decommissioning and temporary relocation of equipment to facilitate works
- Installation of a temporary enclosure to limit dust
- Removal of non-loadbearing walls between rooms within the area and formation of door opening.
- Installation of new internal door set
- Minor repairs to internal finishes
- Fit-out of FFE
- Transporting 3D printer into position in the new lab area
- Alterations to existing ceiling and installation of bulkheads to receive printer
- Adjust M&E services as necessary and to suit the revised layout
